Glazing. Glazing is a finishing technique that is often used on kitchen cabinetry. The finisher builds up layers of translucent paint and/or rubs away layers to achieve the desired effect. The technique can be seen here on this green apple green kitchen island. Glazing will usually increase the cost of finishing cabinetry.
