Industrial and Salvaged

This weekend I am off to a Masterclass which is part of Handmade Wellington 2012. This weekend- long programme is a creative and inspiring event, which combines many skills and handmade activities. A fellow designer and I are attending the 'Salvaged to Supreme - Industrial Art and Furniture' lecture where we'll see examples of salvaged goods turned into finely reconstructed furniture. Should be interesting.
Here is a Swedish apartment, which belongs to interior designer, Benedikte Ugland, that has a cool industrial vibe throughout.
It's a long weekend for us in New Zealand as it is Queen's Birthday Weekend - so enjoy!

Do you have a wish list? I'm sure you do! I love to travel, and am always excited to stumble upon unique and inspiring boutiques, so I was THRILLED to discover Shopikon. It's a genius site and phone app that does the research for you. Shopikon celebrates the independent retailer and the shopping experience in cities around the Globe.

I've always dreamed of taking off to London, and here's why...
1. THE AMAZING ARCHITECTURE AND THOSE ADORABLE LITTLE SPORTS CARS
2. TO VIEW THE STREET FASHION, FIRST HAND
3. TO TAKE IN THE HISTORY AND HERITAGE

PHILLO

4. THE SHOPPING. LONDON IS FULL OF AMAZING BOUTIQUES. I COULD SPEND DAYS PERUSING ALL OF THE SHOPS. HERE'S A PEEK AT A BEAUTIFUL FLOWER SHOP. I'D BE INSPIRED BY THE COLORS, TEXTURES AND DISPLAY.

Can't wait to announce the newest additions to the Skyline Fabric Collection!

Are you wondering what a Skyline Fabric Collection is?  I have curated my own collection of Wesco Fabrics inspired by the television show MAD MEN.

All fabrics are available for purchase and fabric samples can be ordered at no charge.  A great option if you would like to touch the fabric before purchasing yardage.

Just go to the Fab Fabrics page to see what is currently available and fill out the fabric order form.

The next curated collection will be An American In Paris.

greige on the lake

A perfectly relaxing space inside and out.  I love the soft subtle colors mixed in with the glass beads and the the vintage bottles and accessories.  It just shows how much you can do with texture and beautiful light in a space.

Note how each space has a beautiful light fixture.  I love this custom piece above the tub.

2D Deer Heads {an alternative}

Deer Heads, antlers, and skulls are a major interior statement that is trending. I'm a huge fan of this look, and have found some images of 2-dimensional deer heads that no one could object to! A great alternative to achieve the look without breaking the bank, or if mounting a deer head just isn't your thing.
^^These DIY deer antlers are made from Japanese washi tape applied to the wall! Read more about this project HERE.
via
^^These abstract antlers would be easy to recreate with some orange paint on brown paper and a frame!

^Go more literal with a painting of a deer head. This adds an instant rustic vibe!
Which is your favourite? I love the Japanese tape deer! Too cute and so simple.

Find of the Day - Vintage Horn Box

I picked up this small horn box from one of my new favorite online sources for unique, affordable, vintage finds . . .

And here's where it landed.

The source for this little jewel.

How cute is that card they included in the box?!  Minty is a brand new shop - the brain child of three very fun, seasoned bloggers in Atlanta who know a thing or two about interior design.

They have such a nice mix of interesting vintage accessories.  It's totally worth a look see.  If you have a minute to peruse, here's the link.

PS: And if just need someone to give a gift to, I'm happy to email you my address. M.

Happy Thursday...

What a week it has been...our Spring Summer catalogue was mailed to our customers last Thursday in the UK and has kept us very busy. We even had an order from a postman who ordered the Rob Ryan plates after seeing them on the back cover of our catalogue he was putting in people's mail boxes. How cool is that!?
I'm really glad because I can't begin to tell you how much work this has been...but it was worth it! The response has been amazing and I really thank Vosges Paris, French By Design and The Lifestyle Editor for their wonderful write-ups.
I'm also over the moon that so many of you loved the shot I styled for our linen collection. I dreamt about this shot a long time ago and it came out exactly as I wanted it to be which was not a given since it was the first time I did something like this.
The large size of the blue linen duvet cover  and vintage pink duvet cover are now out of stock (hopefully back soon) and I will aim to style the soft grey duvet cover over the next few days to show you how gorgeous it is.
In the meantime, here is a quick update on products availability....
Our gorgeous pom poms and fluro confetti garlands are all back in stock, we have only 2 rabbit lamps left but more will arrive at the beginning of June, the Typed Love print is back in stock in the smaller size and we have a new gorgeous Un Dimanche a Paris kitchen towel in stock. Have a great day

Snob Shots

Last Summer I had the honor of recovering this lovely patio set.

I love the cool, calming colors.  Such a nice area to relax for the warm months ahead.

Just Relax.

Ett Hem Stockholm

Welcome to Ett Hem Stockholm ("a home" in Swedish), a 12 room hotel which opened their doors earlier this month. Based in a former private residence built in 1910, I think this is what a hotel should be - a comfortable home away from home, but 10 times better. Ett Hem Stockholm is a result of a very successful collaboration between its owner, Jeanette Mix, UK based designer, Ilse Crawford and Stockholm architect, Anders Landstrom. I love the stylish and comfortable interiors with its rich collection of furniture, antiques and design.
See more photos and an indepth article about Ett Hem in this article from Monocle here.
