Fence

So because of this......

we had to build this.........

Let's rewind shall we?
So the cute pooch is just that....an amazingly cute pooch named "Chrissy" although we will probably re-name her because I am not vibing on Chrissy.....I think Frankie suits her more. Anyways back to the fence...the adoption agency will not let us have her until we secure our perimeter....and rightly so. We have coyotes in these parts and she has to be safe.

Please email me if you want the real "how to version". We were toally inspired by the brick house and there sweet fence building skills!

We started by purchasing some really expensive clear A redwood...only to realize we wasted money on this fancy brand of wood and that the Home Depot version of their redwood dog ear planks would work just peachy! All we did was lop off the lame dog ear and flip the planks to be horizontal. First we had to rip all of the previous owners crappy landscaping out

before carnage

after carnage

Then after various stages of watching my sweaty husband work away as I sipped NyQuil in the corner shit started to come together!

Whilst he was heaving and ho-ing away, I managed to make my way to Home goods to infect all I came in contact with.....and buy some pots.

Quick DIY
White one ....on sale...painted it black...end of...12 bucks

I planted some succulents that I purchased at Home Depot. We put some pea gravel to cover the dirt.... This crap is only 5 bones a bag so...it worked

Finished Fence.......Now we just have one more 25 foot side to go and the Puppy will be OURS!!!

Make the Most of the Evening Light

I love it when I first notice that it is light much later in the evenings.  Even though the days are still a bit chilly, it tells me that summer is indeed around the corner.  This time of year is so busy with my kids' after school activities.  It's so easy to get caught up in the shuttling around and forget to enjoy this wonderful time of year.

So, I thought I would give you a few images to dwell upon today.

P.S. The new issue of Australian online Magazine Adore Home is just out, and it is not to be missed.  I know what I'm going to be doing when I get a little down time!  M.

Welcome to Miami...

So I was really trying to avoid watching the latest of the Real Housewives nonsense but then I got sick and I was sofa bound and next thing I knew I was like 6 episodes in. Lord help me! I am proud that America is able to give legions of trophy wives work in a down economy. That really warms my heart...[Please, please, please note my sarcasm.]

I am terrified of Mama Else. Her face is more disturbing than Michael Jackson's. Yet I cannot look away.

I would never fit in there...I am way too vanilla for that town! But I do appreciate it's mix of beachy and modern influences (minus the opulence). And I love that white is the base of each palette.

sucker for a package!

i have been known to buy a product or two solely based on the packaging. we all do it!! and we all know that it's just as exciting to get that special bag or box the items are delivered to us in then it is to actually get the item itself. it's the total "package" experience that completely delights our senses. i saw one of these items posted on my friend elizabeth's blog recently. so i did what any friend would do and stole her content. I did it so that I could look cool on our blog today. thanks elizabeth! you can find the below products on lovelypackage.com. is it already thursday?? xo amanda

Blaming the Dayquil

I am so hyped up on NyQuil that I forgot to post my newest DIY this morning!
I went to World Market last week and found these two napkins that were 25% off of 2.99... and fell in love with the pattern. At 2 bucks each they were basically free so I had to snag them up. I busted out the old sewing machine and made these suckers into a throw pillow... How cute!
I only made one but I think I will go back once I am done dying in my bed and buy some more. When pillows can be made for that cheap you almost HAVE to make them!
