two things that keep coming up in the house of domicile recently are color blocking and south africa. why color blocking? because color blocking is so in like flynn right now. we love it. and why south africa? i'm actually not sure why...but it's definitely one of those must see destination. i decided to bring the two together into this one post. meet bo-kaap south africa. just outside cape town, the whole city is one big example of color blocking. so beautiful! did kate spade go to bo-kaap over a weekend and paint all these houses herself to match her spring line?? xo amanda
after day tripping to bo-kaap you can settel into your home away from home at the hout bay manor.
The Cape Town suburb of Hout Bay is something of a surf mecca, and a scenic locale any way you cut it — it sprawls up the hillside, overlooking the sea, cut off by a mountainside from Cape Town proper. It’s an inspiring setting for an inspiring hotel, the Hout Bay Manor.
It’s a classic old house, dating back to the end of the 19th century, but it’s far from antique-by-numbers — though the house, recently renovated, is in immaculate condition, it’s been updated with a healthy dose of modern design, and its colonial look is tempered by generous helpings of Africana.
