i'm sure we can all remember exactly where we were on 9/11. ironically, for me, i was in my architectural structures class in college. believe me, that prompted a lot of discussion about the structural stability of those two towers for the rest of the semester. i can't believe 9 years have passed since that day.
cnn just released the first proposed images of the new islamic community center that will be constructed in place of the twin towers.
"Plans for the $100 million, 13-story center include a 500-seat auditorium, classrooms and conference rooms, space for social events, a 9/11 memorial, a pool and a gym" - cnn.com
the architecture firm is soma architects out of nyc. i think the building looks very futuristic (in a good way) and a little like the birds nest from the olympics in bejing, which i'm also ok with. a little juxtaposition against the famous architecture that we typically think of in nyc. any thoughts? jolene.
