4th of July Projects

We can hardly believe it has been over a year since GEORGE Interior Design hit the blogosphere! It wasn't until Saara took over with her fabulous, consistent, posting that we found so many of you but one way or another, we're glad you come here! Today, to celebrate the 4th, I'm posting a project that we were working on last 4th of July but haven't yet posted. Here are some photos of the Santa Monica bachelor pad the way we first found it... unfinished!:

The kitchen was being updated and new carpets going in to this one bedroom apartment overlooking the Santa Monica pier and beaches.

Working closely with our client, we devised this floor plan below to maximize living/dining/work space while keeping an open and spacious feeling room.

Our client opted to build a custom sofa that fit our exact specifications rather than compromise the size we needed with a store bought model. We also incorporated a full size pull out mattress for additional guest sleeping accommodations. The unit did not have the best overhead lighting so we added these swing arm wall scones to provide plenty of task light while sitting.

There's George doing a little modeling on the sofa:) The coffee table was a great pick up from West Elm.

Opposite the sofa, we went with this awesome entertainment unit in Ivory from Ballard Design. In smaller spaces, it is a good idea to keep things light against the wall. That way, the exact spatial dimensions are less easily distinguished by the eye.

Decorative objects displayed in the entertainment unit:

In the dining room, we kept the table and chair combination sleek and simple. The bar stools were a favorite CB2 find.

It is not hard to imagine having a 4th of July breakfast at this table! Ohh, and what a view of the fireworks there must be off his balcony!

Happy 4th Everbody!
