such a cute little seat for a great cause. i love putting things together. maybe that's why i secretly enjoy the ikea process. i know weird.
SEAT was designed by College of Fine Arts graduate Niki Banados as part of the Hands That Shape Humanity hand up Mentor program. It is a small stool produced in a sustainable bamboo factory in Vietnam (this is the first place SEAT is helping!) but more than that SEAT is being used to raise money for The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation. Did you know that 4 out of 5 Indigenous kids in remote areas cannot read or write to the Australian literary standard!! Hard to believe I know. And, SEAT is also teaching children in schools around Australia - we are creating reading circles, pop up libraries, art programs and also demonstrating what sustainability and positive social change is actually about. The butterfly effect of SEAT, for an ordinary stool is quite extraordinary.
