rug ugh

as you may or may not know, we have a photoshoot coming up for my casa. we got exciting news this weekend that it is pushed back to next monday. this means so much to me with having an extra weekend to make everything perfect. it is news like that which makes me slightly (not all the way) forget about some of the struggles we have had with trying to complete the remaining 'to do' items. even small things like, crap, we don't have enough screws for the hardware, let's go to lowes. again. or, we didn't center the fabric correctly, so let's go to the fabric store. again. and also let's cross our fingers that they even have the correct fabric. all of that being said, i feel like the most difficult part in all of this was finding the perfect rug for my kitchen. i have always wanted this one from west elm. in this color. which, by the way, is the featured color on their website. front page.
one would assume it would be available in the store. well...not so much. of course this colorway of the two (the other being brown and ivory) is only available online. that's fine, i can always rush the shipping. though, in this circumstance, the rug is not available until august. so, scratch that perfect rug idea. on to the next. the next rug we found was from pottery barn. a new outdoor rug with a great pattern. and with it being an outdoor rug, that just makes it more durable for kitchen spills. so, off we go into pottery barn to get this little gem. to find out...it's only available online. of course it is. not to fret, it can be shipped here in two days. phew. so i get the rug on saturday. and i realize the orange color that is on the internet is actually BROWN. really? look at these two pictures and tell me i'm not crazy. these are the same rug. oh, and it's not reversable, which was my initial hope.

(the one i wanted...)
(the one i received...)

luckily pb felt so badly about this that they reimbursed all of my dough plus the shipping costs. he had worked there for seven years and hadn't seen coloration that poorly on the website. just my luck. so amanda and i spent friday night via the phone discussing our options. we found one. i don't want to spill it just yet...you know, in case it's the wrong color or something silly like that.

all of the sarcasm aside, i'm so excited to be so close to finishing the condo. it looks a million times better and i cannot wait to share it with all of you. jolene.
