philip gorrivan design.

this weekend was so crazy. and it went by so crazy fast. friday night i had an awards event for iida that had me walking in the door at 1:30 am on saturday morning. saturday morning also brought an early morning wake up call for a quick tour de vegas. we got up early and booked a hotel room at the trump tower (great room. no casino tables.), and drove to the strip from the oc. we had friends from iowa who were going to vegas, so we decided last minute (meaning the day before) to head to vegas for the weekend to see some familiar faces. a couple of other familiar faces we saw were ludacris (making a pit stop at pure night club) and flava flav. yes, he was wearing a large clock. oh, and some 7' tall basketball player. not sure of his name right now...on our way back on sunday, the ever-so-omniscient iphone lead us onto a little lane blockage secret, which prompted us to take some back roads. now, keep in mind we assume that when a road shows up on the map, it is clearly paved. especially in california. wrong. we definitely went off-roading for about 20 miles with many potholes and lots of dust. my once cleaned car is now covered in clay and dust. i can't believe we didn't document this with the above mentioned iphone, but while in the moment, we were hoping to get to a paved road, which turned out ok in the end. we saved ourselves 2 hours of time in the car by doing this. sometimes my impatience pays off...

now on to the monday post. philip gorrivan design. this well versed designer is based in new york (every time i hear those words, jay z immediately starts singing in my head.) anyway, he was born and raised in maine and attended university in vermont. he also has completed many showcase houses in the hamptons. in fact, that is how he got his start. he completed a small laundry room in the hamptons showcase house when martha stewart walked in and loved his padded walls. it was on page six the next day and the rest is history. although i do not know philip personally, just reading up on his life and background makes him seem like such a grounded personality. he has a couple kids, charlie and isabella, and dog who passed away named clovis. how cute is that name? enjoy this small sampling of his work..there is much more on the site. jolene.
