New Lease: Fabric Scheme Options

I'm torn about what to do with the sofa area of my new room. I want a white sofa (is this a dangerous idea?), but I need to decide on the fabric options for the upholstered bench and throw pillows. Here are the choices I'm toying with...
Which do you prefer? The sunny and fun option or the calmer, more feminine scheme?

Happy Weekend

Happy Weekend everyone! I hope it's going lovely. I'm busy completing some Art History assignments, but got a little distracted by the release of the new issue of Lonny Magazine. Check it out NOW.
My favourite image was this gorgeous office of designer Amanda Nisbet (page 74). The lucite desk, the bright colours, the sparkle and the organization! Everything. Gimme it please!

I Love This Room

The weekend is coming to a close, so to cheer us all up I thought I'd post one of my favourite rooms. You may have already seen it, (it was the June 2011 cover of Canada's Style at Home magazine), but I still can't get enough! It's the living room of the magazine's contributing design editor Christine Hanlon. I love the space for its sunny, bright and refreshing vibe. Also, the colour pallet is amazing (I want a yellow and grey wedding scheme - one day).

Doesn't that bamboo table just steal the whole show? It's jaw droppingly gorgeous and accentuates the brass on the lighting fixtures. Also, the geometric pattern on the couches is just like my blog's background! How apropro.

Here are a few similar items to achieve this look in your own space:

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, and enjoyed this fresh room as much as I do!

Trend I'm Loving: Neon Pink

I recently came across this beautiful outfit via tumblr:
I just love her outfit, specifically the BLAZER (and the pup!)

Bright pink has been on trend in both the fashion and decorating worlds for awhile now, and I'm obsessed. Shocking Pink was always my favourite crayon in the box. The following spaces will explain why:

^^The otttoman, pillows, glass accessories, and ESPECIALLY that lit up lampshade, take a white room and amp up the personality factor!

^^This wallpaper is certainly not for the faint at heart. You can see in the backroom how the light really brings out the brightness of the print's colour. Does anybody know what wallpaper this is? I love it!

From the living space of Anne Ulku, a Minneapolis based freelance graphic designer via Design*Sponge
^^Art and accessories contribute the neon pink to this room. I love all the bright and fun details.

^^ A pink couch! My boyfriend would never allow it. But maybe if I get my own place I'll get something like this. It's so fun.

Get the look via IKEA
KARLSTAD sofa, IKEA. $499.
KLUBBO coffee table, IKEA. $99. (came out a little blurry in the picture, but its quite streamline)
POANG rocking chair, IKEA. $179.
Add to this some colourful pillows, wall mount shelves chalked full of books, a small round side table, some accessories to the coffee table top and you've got this look for a reasonable price!

Do you have some bright pink in your wardrobe? What about pink decor?

Colorful Curtains!

Do you have the Monday blues? I sure do. It's my last day of my lucky full month and one day off between semesters. Although I'm looking forward to getting back into the swing of things, I can't help but want to continue relaxing for just a few more days. The best cure to the blues, however, is a bright injection of good interior design. Today, I bring you this in colorful curtains.

^ Designer Samantha Pynn livens up a black and white scheme with these blue floral curtains. The fabrics are from The Finnish Place. I think the curtains absolutely steal the show in this kitchen.

^ The two images above use the same beautiful floral and fruitful curtain to set off the white walls. I got them from different sources, so I'm not sure whether or not they are from the same living space. Either way, both feature a beautiful use of the bold fabric.

^ Curtains aren't just for windows you know! Add a pop of colour to your closets with this fun idea.

^ I'm loving these pink floral beauties.

My favourite featured look here is Sam Pynn's. In fact, I think she's brilliant with curtains in most of her designs, adding piping or colour bands to simple ready made drapes in many instances. What's your favourite?
Oh ya, and CHEER UP. Hope this helped bring a smile to your face!
Happy Monday,
Tiffany Leigh
