Holiday Style Oliohop

I'm thrilled to welcome you to 2012 Olihop Holiday Style!

Before I begin let me explain a little about what an Oliohop is.
It all begins on Olioboard, an online tool for creating 2D and 3D design boards.

An Oliohop is a blog collaboration of 10 bloggers at the same time.  This month we are focusing on Holiday Style.

Perfect, I know!

We are taking a look at my vision for Tablescapes Holiday Style this year, 2012.

I always begin with some inspiration.  Soft, quiet colors of Duck Egg, muted greens and natural burlap.

I always mix old with new.  Some unexpected with traditional.

Let's take a look at Holiday Style in my own home.  A work in progress...

My Annie Sloan Work Book for making notes and tracking my thoughts.  Duck Egg Annie Sloan Chalk Paint™ is my inspiration for everything.

Yes, that's a book...and yes I painted a pearl necklace...the unexpected!

The final table for two for the Holidays.

Buffalo Check in a soft Duck Egg Blue.

I put my Apparel Design skills to work and made an apron just for the Holidays.

Now for the final Olioboard Tablescapes Collection...

My favorite part of Oliohop is seeing and sharing the other amazing nine bloggers and their posts!

Drop by to see what they have been up to.

Well, I am one of nine bloggers participating again!

WOO HOO...

I am signing out for technical maintenance, stay tuned for more.

Holiday Decorating Creative and Inspiring

Add touches of Holiday Cheer in any room or space.

I'm crazy about tablescapes and always looking for new and unique ways to put together beautiful designs.

The first design above is inspired by an apron from Hen House Linens.  The lines of this Bargello  pattern and the apple green color are perfection.  I love mixing and layering multiple patterns and colors.  The consistency of colors makes this design work with such an eclectic collection.
Another eclectic collection is this design I call Bistro Tablescapes.  Inspired by Tobi Fairley's Bistro Fabric from Tobi Fairley Home.   Vintage, contemporary, casual and formal.  Again it's the consistency of colors that make it all work together.   The Holidays do not have to be traditional colors.  Anything goes now, it's just being a little creative and daring.  Make Christmas decor in your favorite colors, it's okay.

I am in LOVE with these Betty Arm Chairs from CR Laine.  A lovely little seating area that says it's the Holiday Season.

If you're looking for unique and new ideas, contact me to create a virtual Holiday Design for you with a shopping guide that includes pricing and links.
Whether it's small or big, seating area or full room...I can bring your festive decor to you for any room without stepping foot in your home.  Send a few photos, your favorite colors and an idea of what you would like to see.

Prices vary, starting at $150-$275.

Thanksgiving Table Ideas, There's Still Time!

A mix of colors, patterns, natural & elegant.

The stage is set for a beautiful setting.

Three years ago I was searching for some inspiration for a Tablescapes Event I had the honor of being a part of.
I stumbled along this little gem, StoneGable, an inspiring creative living blog.  Instantly knew that I was in big trouble!  Hook, line and sinker...
I Love Tablescapes!

Time for Snob Interior Design Tablescapes 101:

LAYERS!

It's all about layering and mixing.

Don't over think it!  Just do it.  Stack different sizes, colors and textures of plates.
It's not about matchy, matchy.

The same goes for the linens. You always start with the basic white/cream base with the tablecloth and napkins and layer on top.

The white napkin is for actual use, easy to wash and bleach.

Linens are not difficult to make.  Often times it's tough to find a certain color or look you have in mind and much of your time is spent shopping all over town. Purchase the fabrics you like and make them yourself.

Secret, my last tablescapes I did not sew the edges of my napkins, they were ironed with fusible tape.

The third photo of this post gives an example of mixing fabrics for a layered look.

Here is an easy tutorial on reversible placemats and napkins.

I will be sharing more tablescapes ideas on Facebook and Pinterest throughout the week.  Follow along!

Set the stage for your Thanksgiving meal with a little extra punch and WOW your guests, you'll be thankful.

Have a GRATEFUL Week!

Visualizing a Tile Project with Olioboard

As a designer it's not difficult for me to visualize what a space would look like with a new color of paint, furniture, window treatments or tile.

That's my job, to help my clients visualize what their space will look like.

Using tools to convey a vision.

I can pick out the elements, show where my inspiration comes from and then present it to a client.  But can they visualize the space?

Well, I've been using this tool called Olioboard...ha, ha!
(if you're part of the Snob Mob, you know what I'm talking about)

Such a great way for clients to see what their space can look like!

What a great start to to a remodel!
