LBD

or Little Black Desk! Well in this case, not all the desks are "little", I decided to go with the title anyways. I'm currently eyeing black desks. You can't really go wrong with a high gloss black finish in almost any piece of furniture or cabinetry. These desks would all steal the show in any room. You can't drop a ton of money? Look out for vintage desks at flea markets and on the side of the road. A few cans of high gloss paint, work wonders for tired furniture!

I've had my eye on this little Regency, bamboo number ever since spying it in Lonny in 2010 (Christina Murphy Designs - image two). Find it here, by Hickory Furniture's Mark Hampton collection.

inspired: winter white

Although the temps have been in the 60's (LOVE it) the past few days, I know what's right around the corner. As I said last week I'm all for embracing the seasons right now. I read a great quote the other day, here it is: I'm trying to appreciate today and make the most of everyday. Okay enough with the Buddhism. One thing I really appreciate about the winter is a fresh coat of snow and the concept of warm, cozy white shades. Below is some winter white inspiration. I'm big on color, just look at my work, I love it but I can also appreciate a neutral interior. My new place (still figuring this out) will incorporate warm whites, gilded gold and lots of texture. I just adored Mark D. Sikes home in this month's Lonny Magazine!! And that small cottage kitchen pictured in shades of cream is classic and fresh. The custom white hood and cabinets that extend to the ceiling are beautiful. I've also included all the links for the winter white outfit inspiration. The Stella McCartney scarf is so pretty and has gold flecks. (a bit out of my snack bracket unfortunately) Have a great day and cheers to a great week! xx

november

It seems right when November rolls in the temperature in Boston drops 20 degrees. It was 65 in October now it's 40, but I've decided instead of complaining I'm going to try and embrace the cooler weather this year. If you can't beat it, join it kind of mentality. I've pulled together some inspirational images and positive points of the cooler weather setting in..I also love using a color palette of amber, camel, rich grey and cozy browns with brass/golden accents this time of year!
The gorgeous necklace pictured is by Elva Fields and would be perfect for Thanksgiving or any holiday fete! I live in my hunter boots during Fall's rainy season, I'd love to get a second color maybe even the trending red shade pictured. Find them and more colors here.

Oh my...

Oh my... this space makes everything better..  I am going to vent a little... so please forgive me..

Please please everyone remember that every site and every blog has a person behind it or people.  Real people!  People who are hurt by anything rude or inappropriate that you send around about them. Anywhere.  Especially via email, these come right to the inbox- right here on my computer {hello}!  If you are going to take the time to write something and hit the send or post button you should at the very least sign it and realize that I will have a way to contact you maybe even with your very own email address.  So once again if you don't have anything nice to say please do not say anything at all, because to me and so many of us this is all very personal!  Be nice, there is no reason not to!

Okay now- is this room not totally amazing?  I love the color change on the walls I love the soft lines of the linen on the sofa and the combination of textures and pattern in the pillows.  This makes me happy!

Tender Shoots of Green, Pantone Green

Recently a number of Wesco Fabric's client/designers, including myself, were asked to share what we felt would be a "go to" 2013 color and featured on GentryConnects Blog.

I am not shy when it comes to color and can talk about this subject
all day long.

This is what I have to I say on the subject...

Forecasters have seen the prediction of colors for 2013 in their crystal ball.  One in particular, Pantone a world renowned authority on color, gives us their report of what to expect.

I'd have to agree on one of their future picks, Tender Shoots 14-0446.  After seeing the runway fashions in NYC of Fashion Week Spring 2013, this lighter shade of a yellowy green walked the walk.

Diane Von Furstenberg brings to life shades of flowing chartreuse for the world to see and wear.  With the obvious focus on Fashion+Decor within the apparel and home furnishing markets, the two certainly influence each other.

Bringing the two industries together in a mood board, these Tender Shoots of greens convey a  feeling of working together in harmony.  If you're in a green mood, try these Wesco Fabrics for something fresh; (top to bottom)
Eastwood-Mineral, Fun and Frolic-Spring Green,
Madagascar-Tropics.

I suspect we will be seeing green come Spring.
What's your crystal ball say?

To read what other talented clients of Wesco Fabrics have to say, click on GentryConnects.

Tomorrow I will be at the Wesco Fabrics showroom enjoying the Motorized Haute Couture Runday and Line Showing.  This is an exciting roll out of brand new fabrics and creative window treatments inspired by runway fashions.  I will be sharing photos later in the week.

A little of this..

Hello there, sorry for my absence yesterday... how quickly the days seem to pass.  Another busy week is almost ready to be put to rest and I am definitely dreaming of the weekend.  This weekend will be just us girls relaxing here at home, my daughter and me.  I am excited to take a little break from work and spend some time getting the house in order.
We start our final round on the kitchen renovation next week and I am excited and anxious about it.  There are still many choices to be made, that is how it is works around here.  I did speak with my furniture maker yesterday though and we are going to put a contrasting color in the new piece that will hold all of my everyday dishes, now someone needs to pick that color please!
I have pulled a bunch of greys, and greiges to start with.  I will be sure to keep you up to date on all of the selections.
I am also working with the wonderful Shari from Little Blue Deer on a makeover for the blog, it will be fun to have a fresh new look around here don't you think?

Also, a little bit of a delayed THANK YOU to Leaf Magazine for including some pieces from the shop in their current issue!

GOING [GREIGE] CRAZY

This week it's all about Gorgeous [GREIGE]!

Monday Mashup was fun with a masculine [GREIGE] flair from Designer David Jiminez paired with a more chic feminine feel of clothing/accessory fashions from Chloe.

Today we take a more in depth look at [GREIGE] beginning with Snob Interior Design's STYLE FILES.

Some inspiration with a moodboard, paint samples and accessories to pull a room together in your home.

This music room is a combination of grays and beiges as discussed on Monday Mashup.  Love the sheet music pasted on the wall, the perfect backdrop for the room.

Mixing similar tones and multiple textures makes this a cohesive space.

Decorate your home with the colors you like to wear.

A lighting gallery curated just for your space.  Chose the lamps you like the best.  Lamps from Kristen Buckingham.

What are your favorite fabrics and patterns?  Choose from a collection for custom treatments.

A floor plan is a great visual to see how and what the space will look like.

You've had a glimpse of [GREIGE] from Designer David Jiminez, here is a good look at his style with these colors not so mashed together.

Now for some Gorgeous [GREIGE] Snob Interior Design Style.

This is a lovely little Directoire Hall Cupboard from Grange Furniture in an entry way.  A collage of birds in watercolors by a local artist is currently in process.  It will look perfect hung above the custom painted cupboard.  Great for storage and catchall for keys.  Every interior of this cabinet is in a cream finish.

A condo in Houston, TX goes [GREIGE] with Drexel Heritage Walt Disney Signature collection.  Cool & midcentury modern.

Another Snob client goes [GREIGE] with a desk chair from Drexel Heritage.  Custom painted finish on the wood frame and carefully chosen fabric, leather and nail trim combo compliments all the elements of this work/relaxation space.

Carrying this same color theme into the daughters bedroom sets the scene, a room for a queen.  Custom drapes frame the doorways.

Again, Drexel Heritage Furniture specially painted & aged.

This Dining Room Redo was inspired by elements in nature mixed with a table top beauty, beaded placemats.  Fresh paint in two colors complimented by custom window treatments in fabrics from Wesco Fabrics.

Schoolhouse Update: Palmer Hall of Colorado College goes [GREIGE] with a pop of green.

Mixed tiles of texture, colors and tones transforms an outdated public restroom for students in session.

Finally we rap up Snob's Style...
This Master Bathroom shares some [GREIGE] with a pop of orange.  A vanity stool painted in gray coordinating with two shades of gray tile and a lovely printed fabric that becomes a focal point for the space.

Next, join Snob Interior Design on a shopping trip to The Barn.

And The Barn Too...

Antiques, vintage, recycle, upcycle, repurpose...call what you like, has made a big come back.  Very [GREIGE]!

It's [GREIGE] Great!

Are you inspired?  Do you have a room to redo?  Do you know what style & colors you would decorate with?  Do you have a budget in mind?

Then you're ready!  Contact Snob Interior Design...
