Coral Chevron, Coral Jeans

My new fabric arrived from Tonic Living and wouldn't you know it, it's the perfect compliment to my coral skinnies! I'm going to make the cutest throw pillows for my new place with this (once I learn how to sew that is). It also comes premade as a throw pillow, for those of us who can't make our own...I probably should have gone this route.
I feel like I'm going slightly insane with the amount of pillows (and combo of patterns) that I'm planning to cram into my tiny space but I mean come on! Did a little over pillowfication ever hurt anyone?
Everyone loves coral, everyone loves chevron, therefore this fabric is perfection, no?
Yes.

Fun Fabric: Orange and Pink

Remember my post about orange last week featuring the home of Marlie Waks and her perfect hot pink and orange bedroom? Well, I wanted to quickly share with you all this fabulous fabric from Tonic Living that instantly reminded me of Marlie's space (and grapefruit).
See what I mean?
The fabric is 'Make Waves' in Sorbet, from the Modern Essentials Collection by Waverly. It's a beautiful geometric, trellis inspired pattern, and at only $18.95 per yard, it's an absolute steal and simply too good not to share! Get yours HERE.

megan megas at home..

So I know I have been changing it up a little around here with more and more chatting... but sometimes I think change is a good thing! (I hope you do too).  Anyway, I am going to chat this up because I simply love it.  I love the graphic pillow on the white sofa and I love the split wall with grey and creamy paint.  I love the lack of accessories and things.  This is pretty amazing.  I know it is not my home because my dog would knock that vase off of that little stool in about 5 minutes but I still love it.

This picture makes me wish I had not sold off my dining head chairs... humm.  I think I saw some yesterday and now I really want them back!

Santa Monica flea market

We spent the better part of the morning at the flea market on Sunday.  This was my first time to Santa Monica flea market and it was pretty successful as far as shopping.  It was a small group of vendors but there was a pretty good selection.  I found a lot of textiles and pillows which is always fine by me as those are a few of my favorite things!  We even had a few celebrity sitings which made for a fun morning.

This booth was from elements- he had some really great pieces and I had a chance to talk with him which was nice once we had circled the market twice.  I am looking forward to seeing him at Long Beach as he is expecting some pieces to come in from France in a week or so!

I was so close to buying this set of Lucite tables..  so fun!

I picked up a pillow with the embroidered dragons on it- love it!

 (please excuse the dumpsters)

I totally love this mix.  So fun for a girls room or beach house!

the pillows are from Indian Pink

We also discovered another small but really great flea market in Anaheim off of Lincoln and Lemon.  Some of the best finds of the day are from there!  Once I get a chance to go through all of my stuff I will have to share some things with you.

Finishing up..

Above is a grouping of fabrics and finishes that represent the way I typically start a project.  From here I will pull photos and ideas to see which direction to take it.  Once I have that done (sometimes it is the hardest part to find an image that conveys what I want the space to say) I work on the furniture layout and then onto the furnishings themselves.  The final step in my designing process is to put the fabrics and finishes on the proper pieces.  It takes a while to get from design to the finished product, but it is really nice to get there!

This project actually has a few more rooms but I did not like the way my photos looked so I had a limited selection!  If anyone knows of a good commercial photographer in Northern California I would love a good recommendation.

On a totally separate note my friend Molly Wood is having a One Kings Lane sale starting this morning!  Stop by and check out her goodies!

New Lease: Fabric Scheme Options

I'm torn about what to do with the sofa area of my new room. I want a white sofa (is this a dangerous idea?), but I need to decide on the fabric options for the upholstered bench and throw pillows. Here are the choices I'm toying with...
Which do you prefer? The sunny and fun option or the calmer, more feminine scheme?

Geometry Gems

I'm crazy in love with geometry, and I'm not talking math homework here people. No, no, I'm talking about a good geometric print. So contemporary, yet classic.
I've been on the hunt in my town for a good geometric fabric for a DIY project. Even though this is a huge trend in decor right now, my local fabric stores just don't seem to be catching on.

I've turned to hunting online for the perfect fabric, using the above photo as my inspiration. I just love it. Designer Fabrics seems to have the a lot of options, and most importantly, it's location is in Toronto only an hour away from my houseThis means I can make some time to visit the store, saving shipping costs and allowing me to touch and see the textiles in person.
Windsor
Sultana Lattice
Do you like these two options? Or do you think I should do something with some more colour? You all have great taste, and I could use your advice! :)

Totally loving..

These things are totally not related..  I love the vibrant green in this outdoor space.  We are searching for the perfect hedge for our yard and this picture caught my eye.  Any hedge suggestions are welcome!

I was at the design center yesterday pulling some fabrics for a job and had a chance to see the new line from Kelly Wearstler for Lee Jofa- love these!  It is nice to see some new fabrics.  I also had a chance to see the new pieces from Windsor Smith which are also fantastic.

Wishing you a great start to the end of the week!

Living Room Redesign...Almost There

For the past few months, I have been helping my parents redesign their formal living room. My parent's have very traditional tastes, so I kept that in mind when helping them to make selections. My favourite part of the room is the new floors and cushions!

But first! A peek at what the room used to look like. I had to dig back in the family archives for Christmas photos from 3 years ago! Here it is:
And now the after... (We are still looking for the perfect coffee table and some accessories)

My parents installed the new hardwood floors all by themselves! They turned out absolutely gorgeous!
The bird's eye view! (We have a loft that overlooks the living room).
My mom sewed the accent cushions. I love the finished product!
It's got a bit of a ways to go, but I'm thrilled with it! Wish I was a better photographer.
What do you think?

Tufted sofa love...

So I am completely smitten with the tufted vintage style sofa, chesterfield or not I am loving the fun styles out there.  I have a simple high back sofa in my living room from Cisco brothers that has served me well for years- I think 7 or 8 years to be exact and it is still in great shape.  However, you know as well as anybody that girls like me like to day dream.  When I day dream it is about furniture and travel typically.  (the photo below makes me weak!)  So anyway long story short, or vice versa now, I was not shopping for a sofa but you know how things happen when you least expect it, I found a beauty that I could not resist!

This one is so cute with the contrast of the nail heads...

This little beauty looks vintage but it is not..

Love the yellow but I know it is not for me...

So here she is my new to me vintage sofa... LOVE LOVE LOVE   the only question now is which fabric and which color??

Do I go with linen in a natural tone, linen in a charcoal grey, velvet in a light grey??  Oh the delimas I get myself into!

What do you think?  I am over the moon- it was the perfect find for a ridiculously low  price (I am not sure I should say).  I will say that flea market shopping is some of the best shopping EVER!
