EVERYTHING OLD IS NEW AGAIN OLIOHOP

 Today's issue of Monday Mashup is a fun one.

 I've been seeing a wonderful combination of Fashion+Decor in many design markets.  This year Highpoint Market has a great focus on fashion the week of October 13-18th. 

With my degree in Apparel Design, I am more than just a little excited about the emphasis on Fashion+Decor.  The apparel and decor industry really do influence each other each year in a circular "fashion".

This month's OlioHop collaboration (which I have been talking about for the past week) is focused on Fashion+Decor as well.  

So without further ado... 

I can hardly resist the timeless brilliance of Christion Dior and the legend of Marilyn Monroe.  Over time designs, fashions, styles and colors will always come back around.

When designing a room I try to combine the old and new using  vintage, flea market finds and perhaps inherited antiques.  Combine these with new or custom pieces to bring the decades together in a single beautiful space.

Bring new life to old furniture.  Recycle, upcycle, refinish, refurbish, call it what you will.  Everything Old Is New Again with a finish of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint TM.

Headgear for all.  Regardless if you're going to church or adding a little something extra to a lamp base its always in style to try and make a statement.

It's the little details that can top off your look.

Influences throughout the years always find their way back into design.  So many memorable icons, so much joy and so many memories.

Love This: Wing Chair

I received my Williams-Sonoma Home catalog the other day and the soft springs colors on the cover were very exciting.  As we have finally experienced what we call in Colorado, warm weather, I am really looking forward to Spring time.

One page in particular caught my eye.  The Anderson Wing Chair...

I imagine myself sitting in this chair with a cup of green tea blogging. The color is so soft it reminds me of coloring Easter Eggs.

The fabric is mini grid in sky blue.

 

The fabrics offered in this catalog are just wonderful.

I am thrilled that Spring is just around the corner.

Inspiration can be Stranger Than Fiction...

In a recent blog, I talked about how inspiration can be found anywhere. One of my all time favorite movies is Stranger Than Fiction. I love everything about this movie, I could go on and on, but I wont. I will mention, though, my Design Inspiration from this brilliant film.
Dustin Hoffman played the character, Professor Jules Hilbert, trying to help Harold Crick solve the voice in his head and avoid his eminent death. My inspiration from this movie comes from Professor Hilbert's office and his suits. His toned down, tailored suits of robins egg blue mixed with subtle and neutral tones of tans, oatmeal and beige are consistent throughout the movie. Within the four walls of the professor's office contains beautiful gold windows, books to the ceiling and clean lined contemporary furniture in shades of grays that set the stage for each scene. Not to mention his coveted coffee maker that is a for sure accessory in my own office as well.
This is the inspiration for the master bedroom in my own home. If you have not had the opportunity to see this great production, I encourage you to rent it! I will be sure to show you the final product of my inspiration.
