Hit The Locker Room!

I am a sucker for old locker baskets. They have so much personality and can be used to store anything. See for yourself...

Decorganizing: Clipboard To-Do-List

As I am trying to get organized in the new year, I am considering this idea... a clipboard for each day of the week telling me what I need to get done that day. Then if I don't get it done on Monday, I can move it to Tuesday. What do you think? If you are a fellow designer, you know that you can start of a day on a solid schedule/checking off your to-do-list but by 10:00 you are totally off track! You get a call and have to immediately change gears to talk to a client, put out a fire or track down details on an order. This is a very ADD-centric job. And I am the total antithesis of ADD and get frustrated when I get distracted from the task at hand so it is a constant struggle for me! Maybe this technique will work...

Decorganizing Wednesday: Under Bed Storage

If you are short on storage space in your home, don't overlook the area under your bed! There are many handy products on the market to utilize this hidden gem and keep your items dust free. If you don't like the ready made products, you can always custom make (or hire someone to custom make) underbed storage units or create a platform bed with built-in drawers. Here are some examples of ways to utilize this space.

Of course Martha's underbed organizers are much prettier than the plastic variety.

Tutorial here.

These are cute and if you don't have a plethora of free time or a staff of thousands to make your own like Martha, these bad boys are only $36.00!

Check out this craziness from Real Simple...

So go clean out the dust bunnies, the collapsible treadmill you never use and the vintage Playboy collection (yeah, I mean you!) and use this space for extra storage!

Decorganizing Wednesday: Pots and Pans

There are many ways to organize your pots and pans no matter the size of your crib or how often you use them.

Pot racks, wall or ceiling mounted...

Martha has some tips (shocker) for protecting your pots if you go for the nesting method. She suggests using large coffee filters, paper towels or paper plates in between pans to protect the nonstick surfaces. Like so...

And these suckers are handy for keeping up with all those pesky lids....

Decorganizing Wednesday: Garages

This one is for all your menfolk out there....(I will pause while you bark like Tim The Tooltime Taylor from Home Improvement). Can you no longer park cars in your garage? Do your kids refer to your garage as "the scary place"? Are you ashamed to open up your garage doors out of fear that people will see inside when they drive by? Then it might be time to clean that bad boy out! Real Simple (June 2010) did this great article with some brilliant suggestions and tips for organizing your garage. Take a look at these photos and get inspired! You might even find that bike you use to ride....just in time for summer!

Decorganizing Wednesday: Martha...You Again

Damn you Martha, damn you!
So tired of her making the rest of us look bad. This office is crazy organized. I could get some serious business/crafting done here (she says from behind stacks of unfinished work).

Decorganizing Wednesday: Need a Bigger Closet?

Blueprint

Don't have a large closet? Make one. Use a long wall or an entire room as a wardrobe of sorts. And why not get creative with the closet system itself? Especially since it is out in the open! How brilliant to use the latter as a clothing rod to connect the bookcases! I especially like this mix of modern materials and old accessories. Tres chic.
