I spy with my little eye something that is gorgeous.

Audrey Hepburn, obvi, but I'm talking about the magnifying glass!

I found it at HomeSense for only $9.99. I fell in love with the lucite handle and the golden accents. I noticed a small scratch on the lens, and got a couple dollars off. Good detective work (get it?).

It reminded me of some of my favourite vignettes that have been floating around the blogosphere lately, including this one from The Every Girl.

Trying Out New Trends

Do you ever see a fashion trend on a celebrity and think "I could pull that off", but when you purchase the item you never seem to find the courage to wear it? This is what happened to me with the headscarf. I see it on other people and I am absolutely IN LOVE with this look. But whenever I put mine on I hesitate for some reason.
I first started noticing this look on the always fashionable Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl (one of my favourite shows, hello Chuck Bass).

These UpperEast Siders wear their headscarves pushed back higher up on their heads, which makes it a bit more preppy.

I also like the way Nicole Richie wears a scarf, over the top of her forehead. It's a hippie inspired look, adding a carefree vibe and ease to her look. She chooses bright and playful prints to add a pop to her neutral attire and finishes the look with a pair of stylish shades.

Another way to wear the headscarf that I really like is to spin it around so the knot or bow is on the front!

I think I'm going to get the courage to wear mine one day soon:

a little fringe from fred for the new year

as i was researching la boutiques to put our new line of dinnerware (yes it's coming VERY soon) into yesterday i came across these cute glass products by fringe studio sold at fred segal. we want our line in fred segal so i was checking out the competition. while doing so i found these transparent vases with traditional bird motifs by fringe studio and was drawn to them today. they feel fresh for the new year. happy new year!! amanda

i was doing a little research for jolene on african beads; we see strands and strands of them at the flea markets every time we go. as i was researching i came across these beautiful woven african baskets. my theme this week week has morphed into "things that are handmade, eco, and woven" by accident. the patterns on these baskets are amazing and intricate. most of thesme were made in the late 20th century and range in price from $20.00 to $900.00. any of these baskets would enhance any interior modern or traditional. more info here.

ladies & gentelmen

i found a small snippet of this company on design*sponge not too long ago, and i remember calling amanda and saying, you have to check out these one-of-a-kind tables. and a doily. and a buddha. i. am. sold. jolene.

this series is named the alphabrass collection. it is where lighting meets furniture in a hand made assemblage. i think this is such a fantastic one-of-a-kind idea, an original for your own home. not to mention a very special green story.

and then we have a doily. a megadoily as L&G calls them. the owner was really attracted to vintage doilies, which spread into a vision to create this intricate craft into area rugs. jean uses cotton rope, which is soft on your feet, and has its own organic story. what a demiurgic spin on your grandmother's doily collection.

finally. buddha gone wild. this is their chalk it to me series. very cleverly named. they have taken token accessories, painted them with chalkboard paint, and then given you brightly colored chalk for your creative side to go wild. decorate away. this is my favorite from the whole collection. it gives me a smile.

2nd post. of 2.

amanda and i worked on a beachside hotel project together where we were searching for crocheted and macrame for the lobby feature. great idea if i do say so myself. ever since then i have always had an eye for this delicate craft. on top of that, my mother is a crocheting machine. she can whip up some baby booties in ten minutes. i love that about her. right now amanda and i are working on finding the perfect colors for a throw blanket over her sofa made by my own mother. stay tuned for that. in the mean time, i found these fabulous earrings on etsy. enjoy. jolene.

100th post.

welcome to our 100th post. i can't even believe it. much like the rest of the year, this blogging thing has gone by so quickly. it truly helps that amanda and i can trade off and get a week to think about what to blog for that coming week. we have it made.

for today's 100th post, i want to introduce emersonmade. this unbelievably adorable hand-crafted and hand dyed product is made in new hampshire. because there is no machinery involved with the production, each bloom is slightly varied in size, which gives them a unique look and a one-of-a-kind textured feel. if you check out the website, which i highly recommend, you will see the creativity in just the applications alone. they can be used on ordinary t-shirts to wedding gowns. really, there are unlimited possibilities. i absolutely love the table setting with the colorful flowers. swooning. these can be perfect gifts for the upcoming giving season. jolene.

i spy the same ikat fabric

jolene and i spent the holiday weekend working on a few diy projects to spruce up her new very organized and clean office and bedroom. we found the above ikat fabric at a secret location in the OC and made some bed pillows for her newly painted and carpeted boudoir. this room is going to be beautiful so stay tuned for the glamor shots. amanda
