Trying Out New Trends

Do you ever see a fashion trend on a celebrity and think "I could pull that off", but when you purchase the item you never seem to find the courage to wear it? This is what happened to me with the headscarf. I see it on other people and I am absolutely IN LOVE with this look. But whenever I put mine on I hesitate for some reason.
I first started noticing this look on the always fashionable Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl (one of my favourite shows, hello Chuck Bass).
These UpperEast Siders wear their headscarves pushed back higher up on their heads, which makes it a bit more preppy.

I also like the way Nicole Richie wears a scarf, over the top of her forehead. It's a hippie inspired look, adding a carefree vibe and ease to her look. She chooses bright and playful prints to add a pop to her neutral attire and finishes the look with a pair of stylish shades.

Another way to wear the headscarf that I really like is to spin it around so the knot or bow is on the front!
I think I'm going to get the courage to wear mine one day soon:
Do you guys like headscarves? Who do you think wears it best? Have you ever had a trendy item that you've owned and loved but never worn?

yop.

ok, so the abbreviation above always cracks me up because i learned it at my first job working in the facilities department at wells fargo financial in des moines. i feel like this was the job where i learned my most cliche working terminology for life. yop (for those whom are not familiar) means your opinion please. so, deep breath, i need your opinion. i am getting a much needed hair cut this saturday by my girl alex at bella salon in naples, and i was wondering if i should get bangs. i mean, i have had them before and of course they looked great the day i walked out of the salon, but sometimes i think i need a change. hmm. here's heidi on the cover of la confidential with her new do. so, what do you think? bangs or no bangs?

btw, i just got home from the midwest, and i cannot say how much i love southern california. we left iowa in the 20's and landed in california in the 70's. i love this place. jolene.

the dry bar.

this weekend was full of driving, football, and greasy food. that's right. i went to arizona to watch them beat the iowa hawkeyes on saturday. boo on the turnout. yeah on the fun. 12 hours in the car. 2 nights. many friends. i do have to say, i'm glad i live in socal and not az. i could not handle the heat. i also wouldn't be able to go without grass or anything green for that long. it truly made me realize the perfect situation we have in orange county. needless to say, it's good to be home.

on to another perfect situation. assuming you live in the area, and also assuming you have wanted perfect hair for a special occasion or even just a monday. here is the place for you. it's called the dry bar, and it's located in brentwood. they charge 35 buckaroos, which includes drinks and gossip magazines, for a blow out. yep, you read correctly. no cut and color on their menu. how perfect is this? i can't wait to check it out next time i need my hair did. and i'm in brentwood. jolene.
