Typewriters love | Styling

This morning, I came across this photo below and found the styling very inspiring. Something about the green patterns used as a background hit a chord. It is a nice composition don't you think?
At the same time, it made me feel a bit melancholic :-) or maybe it's the feeling that all things come to an end, people leave, life moves on.
I grew up with typewriters and while I don't consider myself as 'ancient' yet, my daughter Mila (7) grew up on iPad and Imac and knew intuitively how to use them before we show them.
It's just crazy when you think about it, how quickly things have changed in the recent years. We don't even buy DVDs anymore, we download them. We take millions of pictures with our digital cameras or iPod (never print them because we don't have time), lose them regularly when the hard drive dies and carry on taking more pictures. It's funny and sad at the same time.
Do any of you manage to print family photos regularly to put them into photo albums? I would love to hear your tips! I keep telling myself that I'll do it when baby no 2 comes but....
Anyway...from this lovely first photo, I thought about this Typed Love print and then discovered Bri's Tumblr Typewritten Life. Bri is a 20 something student who uses her typewriter to write little notes.

{Thank you for leaving a comment. Reading them always makes me very happy}

Behind-the-scene photoshoot with a Danish team

Yesterday, my home was photographed & styled by a Danish team...I was busy working on our new site in the kitchen so I let them get on with it. After 3 photoshoots in the space of a few weeks including my favourite in MILK Decoration, I wasn't sure how different their shots could be from what we had seen before but the stylist was very good and they made some great photos.
The photo on the wall next to the BAU pendant light (photo 2) is one of Mila taken by Francois (who has now a new website here). I will show later on the whole series we did around this gorgeous black tutu - it looks fabulous!
The Monkey print is part of our AW 2012 collection and should arrive this week. If you haven't requested a copy of our new catalogue, make sure you do it here.
Have a great day!

Such a serene photo...

I love the peace and serenity this shot exudes and this woman with her white hair looks so graceful...
It looks like a painting///
The day I manage to style something as beautiful as this, I will be very happy.

I have also been dying to get a skull like this since I saw one in the kitchen of this gorgeous home in Amsterdam - which is pretty much my 'masterplan' kitchen. I keep asking if Steve's dad in New-Zealand can find one on his farm but as he has now retired, it is very unlikely that one of the few cows he kept. is going to drop-dead just so that I can have her skull so if you know where I could source some, by all means please let me know.

Twig Hutchinson: Stylist

Yesterday, I spent the day styling our London home for a photoshoot with Michael Paul - who shot our home in France in 2010. As we were talking about styling, we realised there were two stylists we both really like, although they have a totally different style: Twig Hutchinson and Lotta Agaton.
Prop/Interior Stylist and Art Director Twig Hutchinson is definitively of my favourite British stylists.
The shot of these woollen socks (image 5) she styled a few years ago for mail order company TOAST is one of my all-time favourites and she has done more beautiful shots for Toast, Joules and other British brands since then.
Twig's styling is very inspiring and creative. I love how she uses raw materials, textured fabrics and vintage pieces to enhance old, decadent interiors. She creates beautiful atmospheres with a relaxed feel and each time, my head wanders in the countryside where I would be living a very relaxed yet exclusive & stylish life with my friends and family.
And if you love this style, I strongly recommend you to cycle to Petersham nurseries in Richmond...it's a very unique and inspiring place and you will have a wonderful time.

Life with Mila...at breakfast

Yesterday morning, Steve got up at 6am to take Lucas for a walk. When Mila and I joined him an hour later for breakfast, he told us that Linda, our au-pair, came home at 6am. This is unusual as Linda often comes home around midnight after working in a pub nearby but last night, she was out partying. Mila's reaction made me laugh....

Mila: "Oh WOW, she worked ALL Night!!"
Aren't kids just great to look at the world with a positive attitude and think the best of everything and everyone... :-)

This is what François and I worked on last weekend. The second picture which shows the beautiful Rob Ryan plates better is likely to be on the back cover of our catalogue...

Errm...I've just be blown away

This week has been incredibly busy (SS/12 catalogue to finish), amazing (yes we got 'an Oscar' for our Christmas catalogue) and well a bit stressful but tonight one thing stopped me in my track.
One thing literally blew me away and skyrocket my inspiration level and it was, Desiree's post for Ikea Family Life.
Not only she is the Queen of raviolis - last time I stayed with her, I couldn't get enough of her cooking - but I'm loving her styling and I'm very much look forward to staying again in her gorgeous home later on this year.
And can I just say that I think the clipboards she painted in black are a genius idea!
Have a wonderful evening, be blown away by these stunning images and most importantly be inspired....
Batgirl art print from BODIE and FOU

B&W Styling | ♥ ♥ ♥

I would love to attend this Styling Master Class at Beckmans with Emma and a few other friends. They have all done an amazing jobs in styling still life. They are all beautiful but my favourite are these three from Amanda RodriguezAnna Gorecki and Emma's because of the contrast and the use of typography.
I can't wait to experiment Still Life styling but for the time being, I'm very excited to be working on the BODIE and FOU SS/12 catalogue. Styling for a catalogue is a bit different from styling practice or styling for a magazine as I have to use mostly products from the store to fit the story we are writing but then this gorgeous Only As print, Feathers print and Rabbit lamp look brilliant together, don't they?!
The SS/12 catalogue will be very different from the first one but it's going to be really, really nice!

Sunday inspiration | Aline Diepois & Thomas Gilzome

I have written about Aline Diepois and Thomas Gilzome last October but I really love their photography and artistic direction. I love the feeling of nostalgia, softness and peace that come out of these shots...like a stroll in the countryside on a Spring Sunday afternoon...

I love this

I'm having a very lazy Sunday, making a delicious and healthy spicy prawns salad with bulgur (a recipe by Michele Cranston)...
I love this photo above from an old Habitat catalogue...It reminds me of the PHE-2 scrapwood wallpaper. I played with it last week during our photohoot but I think I'm going to make a feature wall in one of the bedroom in our holiday home. It has such a relax, beachy feel...
What are you up to today?
