Favourite Furniture Fridays: Sailing the Sea of Style

Hi! Sloane from Sailing the Sea of Stylehere. I am so excited to be here on Tiffany’s blog. Her blog is my go-to interior design blog and her DIY’s are amazing!  Today, I will be sharing my favorite piece of furniture in my room.

My favorite piece is a Moroccan Pouf that I found on One KingsLane. The pale pink and gold detailing adds a fun and chic touch to my room.
I love to stack magazines, books, and little things on it. It’s also is great for extra seating, in case you are in need. Currently it sits next to a chaise lounge, but I like to move it around. Sometimes, in front of my bed, sometimes by my desk…
Poufs come in so many different colors, and are very fun to have! Oh and by the way, they are extremely fun to sit on :)  Thank you for having me Tiffany!

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Five Kinds of Happy

Hello Tiffany Leigh fans!
I'm Amy from Five Kinds of Happy and I'm here today sharing my favourite piece of furniture. I had to debate whether a mirror counts as a piece of furniture, but Tiffany assures me that for this series, it does ;)

When we first moved into this house early this year I bought the mirror (second-hand) to go over the mantel, but what do you know, the thing was so heavy it ended up here on the hearth instead, and here it stayed...

It really grounds the whole room and adds so much interest to the fireplace, which is the focal point of the living room and can be seen from the front door. Plus it visually extends the room and tricks your eye into thinking there is more floorspace than there actually is.

It's a sweet spot for some mood lighting and, bonus: it hides the empty old fireplace with all it's not-so-pretty sootiness.

Mirrors are such an important part of decor, in my opinion, because they can do so much with the light and spacial aspects of any room. The only reason I don't have one on every wall is because I secretly fear people thinking I'm too vain. ;)

Anyone else got a thing for mirrors?

Thank you so much for having me here Tiffany! I love this blog series - it's so interesting getting a peek into other people's creative homes.

Although 'technically' more of an accessory, Amy's mirror is too pretty not to share, so when she asked if it passed, of course I said yes! I just love the way it spruces up the fire place. Check out the before pics here. Thanks for sharing Amy!
ps. Happy Thanksgiving to all of my American followers! I hope your weekend is full of great time and gratefulness.

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Sadie + Stella

Hello you Tiffany Leigh loving fans, you. I guess that would be me talking to myself as well...I am Lindsay from Sadie + Stella Design. When Tiffany asked me to be here with you today, saying I was flattered would be quite the understatement. I think TL is so incredibly talented and definitely a star on the rise. I know this feature is about a favorite piece of furniture in your home, and honestly I did not have a hard time choosing. It has to be, none other, than our Stanley credenza. Taaaaa daaaaa.
Let me tell you. Finding this red beauty was not an easy task. Peeps would think we were looking for Osama bin Laden or something. When we first moved into our loft, not seen here, we had a 50' flat screen residing on top of a safe. Tres chic. I told the boy we would not be having any house guests unless that baby was replaced. My vision? Something red and something unique. After about 4 months of searching high and low, the boy found this Stanley credenza about 30 minutes from where we were living. Now here is the kicker. This beauty retails for close to $3,000. We got it for $500 from a private seller. I will not tell you my address, for fear that you all will come and loot this. Deal of the century and all of the credit goes to the boy on this one.
Here is a little side view. You can also see our dining room rearing its beautiful head in the reflection of the TV. Thanks to my late working schedule and this damn Daylight's savings, the lighting was not working in my favor. Please accept my sincerest apologies. Thank you so much TL and TL readers for peeking at my favorite piece of furniture in our home. Make sure to come and visit me at S+S Design. Loves!
You guys all know what I'm eyeing in this photo...that foo dog! Jealousy ensues. The credenza is so glam too, and the perfect compliment to her dining room (which is a must see). Lindsay is another gal who knows how to use red right. It's my goal to learn her skills. So thrilled and honored to have you here today Lindsay! Thank you.

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budget

Hello Tiffany Leigh readers! I'm Hannah, hailing from Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budget.

I am so excited to be posting for Favourite Furniture Fridays today!  Tiffany's blog has quickly become a must-read for me, and this series is one of my favorites in the blogosphere!

My number one piece of furniture has to be my $30 Craigslist chair.  I bought the chair and re-painted and re-upholstered it with the help of many bottles of wine and a mom-of-the-year.

The left is indeed, the before picture of the chair.  A lovely cane chair with an unclassifiable velvet fabric.

A little high gloss white paint, black greek key fabric, and nailhead trim helped me transform the Craigslist grandma chair into the chair of my dreams!

It is my favorite piece of furniture because it's original, classic, and a lot of love and labor went into it.
If you're interested in getting the tutorial, you can find it here.
Thanks again Tiffany for having me!
xoxo,
H
You all know I'm truly envious of anyone who can pull off an upholstery job. One day I might try my hand at it! Go show Hannah some love!

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Inside-Out Design

Hi guys! I'm Brooke from Inside-Out Design  and I'm so excited that Tiffany invited me to be part of her Favourite Furniture series today!!

I love most of the furniture in my home, but honestly, picking my favorite was so easy! It's most definitely the ottoman that my husband and I made out of our old coffee table.

The table started out looking like this:

We shortened the legs, built out the sides, added foam, batting, and gorgeous fabric from West Elm,
and ended up with this:

All these tight, pretty tufts make me weak in the knees!!
This was fun; thanks so much for letting me be here Tiffany!

When I asked Brooke to share her fave piece of furniture, I was hoping she would pick this lovely ottoman. I just love the tufts! Check out her full DIY tutorial here! Thanks so much for being here Brooke! Happy weekend everyone :)

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Pawleys Island Posh

Hey loves, I'm Julia from Pawleys Island Posh and I'm thrilled to be here today chatting about my favorite piece of furniture.  Currently, it's my desk.  I may have two babes, but this was truly my biggest labor of love.  I inherited the desk from my in-laws and painted it a nice coral color.  (Safflower by Olympic Paints from Lowes)
I also spray painted four of the existing knobs with metallic gold paint.  The tops knobs I swapped out for two crystal knobs form Anthrolpologie.
It's both pretty and functional.  I'm both a photographer and a blogger as well as a full fledged pinterest addict so I clearly spend a lot of my time here at my desk as well.

I just die over Julia's office space. The coral desk adds such a fun pop of color and her ability to mix different textiles, colors and patterns is truly admirable! Thanks so much for sharing! Be sure to check out Julia's fabulous blog HERE.

Favourite Furniture Fridays: With Love From, Kat

Hi everyone!  I'm Kat from With Love From, Kat.  I'm so excited to be guest posting here today!  I love that Tiffany does "Favourite Furniture Fridays" - it's such a fun way to get a peek into various blogger's homes.  My favorite piece of furniture is my Shabby Chic settee.
I picked it up a few weeks ago from the Shabby Chic store in Soho.  Moving furniture in NYC is tricky, so my boyfriend and I decided to call an SUV car service to pick us up and then loaded it into the car ourselves.  Once we made it back to our apartment, we carried the settee up 4 flights of stairs!  If you've read my Ikea story then you know that this was a piece of cake compared to that ordeal!  Anyways, the effort was well worth it because I am in love with this couch.
The crisp, white linen fabric is such a nice contrast against the exposed brick wall.  Let's just hope no one spills anything on it... ;) Thanks for having me Tiffany!

Are you all swooning over this space as much as I am? The settee is gorgeous of course, but lets also notice those wood floors, the brick, the ghost chairs! This girl has good taste. Be sure to check out her blog!

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Mimosa Lane

I'm so happy to be here this morning!  I'm Albertina from Mimosa Lane and I am thrilled and honored to be guest posting here at Tiffany's lovely blog, that is a daily must read for me, in her Favorite Furniture Friday series.  I chose to share with you this special piece of furniture- a bench.  But not just any bench, an antique church bench!
It used to be my parents' until I inherited it.  This antique church bench is perhaps from the Spanish colonial period.  The wood is incredible.  I can't believe it has withstood the test of time in such great condition.  I love its length and it definitely adds a lot of interest to the room.
I have the first fish I ever caught, which happened to be at camp, mounted above it (such a conversation starter) as well as an Allison V. Smith photograph and a piece by Patricio Reig. I love art, can't you tell?  I enjoyed decorating around this bench where I counterbalanced the art on the wall with some decorations that sit on the bench.
Sometimes I imagine the different people who might have sat at this bench and wonder what they had been praying for.  If the bench could talk I bet it would have so many amazing stories to tell!

Thank you Tiffany for having me today.  It was so much fun to have the opportunity to showcase a favorite piece like this.  xx, Albertina
Albertina I just love this bench! It has such an incredible sense of history. And by the way, isn't fishing fun? Thanks for sharing!

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Simple Dwellings

Hi, my name is Amber from the design blog Simple Dwellings.  I am so excited to be on Tiffany's blog for her favorite furniture series!  I love this idea and instantly knew what I would choose.  As I look around our house, there are many things I would love to revamp and change, but our dining room hutch has a great story attached to it and makes me smile when I see it!
We purchased our hutch when my husband and I lived in Germany.  While we lived there for three years, my love for interior design and unique furniture grew.  I used to often walk into this one furniture store and browse around, seeing if they had anything new.  Then one day, I fell in love with this off white hutch.  It was definitely one of those had to have pieces!  Well, it was over budget, so I moved on.  I often thought about it, hoping it would go on sale.  When I went back to the shop one afternoon, it was no longer there.  I was heartbroken, figuring someone had bought it.  Then one night when my husband and I were on our way to the movies, we spotted a discount furniture store with the same name as my favorite shop.  We had some extra time, so we went inside.  It was their discount store, and there it was- 40% off!  It was truly meant to be. We paid for it that night, and the rest was history!  My husband still says it was the most expensive movie date we ever had!  :)  I smiled from ear to ear throughout the entire movie!  Some things are just meant to be.
Thanks so much for having me here today, Tiffany.  It was fun going down memory lane!

Such an amazing story Amber! I completely love the piece and am smitten with your blue and white china collection!
Be sure to visit Amber's blog Simple Dwellings!
