Favourite Furniture Fridays: Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budget

Hello Tiffany Leigh readers! I'm Hannah, hailing from Champagne Lifestyle on a Beer Budget.

I am so excited to be posting for Favourite Furniture Fridays today!  Tiffany's blog has quickly become a must-read for me, and this series is one of my favorites in the blogosphere!

My number one piece of furniture has to be my $30 Craigslist chair.  I bought the chair and re-painted and re-upholstered it with the help of many bottles of wine and a mom-of-the-year.

The left is indeed, the before picture of the chair.  A lovely cane chair with an unclassifiable velvet fabric.

A little high gloss white paint, black greek key fabric, and nailhead trim helped me transform the Craigslist grandma chair into the chair of my dreams!

It is my favorite piece of furniture because it's original, classic, and a lot of love and labor went into it.
If you're interested in getting the tutorial, you can find it here.
Thanks again Tiffany for having me!
xoxo,
H
You all know I'm truly envious of anyone who can pull off an upholstery job. One day I might try my hand at it! Go show Hannah some love!

Red

Last night, my boyfriend surprised me with Taylor Swift's new cd 'Red'.
It's the little things like this that remind me how blessed I am to have him in my life!
In honour of the album's title, I thought I would explore a color I'm actually terrified of...red. Not red per se, but red in interior spaces. I'm not sure from where this fear stems..but I may have found the cure...

Enter Jenny Komenda of Little Green Notebook, one decorator who knows how to use red in an interior flawlessly.
I've seen her advocate in more than one post about using a little bit of red in every room.

I think her trick is the type of red she chooses : tomato-y
When I was a little girl I always said my dining room would be red one day.
Was I fearless or what? Time to get back a bit of that edge.
Also, today I'm over at Brittany's blog Classically B sharing some of my favourites of the moment.
She's pretty amazing and has a textile line coming soon.
Check out my guest post HERE!
Happy Monday sweet loves! xo

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Pawleys Island Posh

Hey loves, I'm Julia from Pawleys Island Posh and I'm thrilled to be here today chatting about my favorite piece of furniture.  Currently, it's my desk.  I may have two babes, but this was truly my biggest labor of love.  I inherited the desk from my in-laws and painted it a nice coral color.  (Safflower by Olympic Paints from Lowes)
I also spray painted four of the existing knobs with metallic gold paint.  The tops knobs I swapped out for two crystal knobs form Anthrolpologie.
It's both pretty and functional.  I'm both a photographer and a blogger as well as a full fledged pinterest addict so I clearly spend a lot of my time here at my desk as well.

I just die over Julia's office space. The coral desk adds such a fun pop of color and her ability to mix different textiles, colors and patterns is truly admirable! Thanks so much for sharing! Be sure to check out Julia's fabulous blog HERE.

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Mimosa Lane

I'm so happy to be here this morning!  I'm Albertina from Mimosa Lane and I am thrilled and honored to be guest posting here at Tiffany's lovely blog, that is a daily must read for me, in her Favorite Furniture Friday series.  I chose to share with you this special piece of furniture- a bench.  But not just any bench, an antique church bench!
It used to be my parents' until I inherited it.  This antique church bench is perhaps from the Spanish colonial period.  The wood is incredible.  I can't believe it has withstood the test of time in such great condition.  I love its length and it definitely adds a lot of interest to the room.
I have the first fish I ever caught, which happened to be at camp, mounted above it (such a conversation starter) as well as an Allison V. Smith photograph and a piece by Patricio Reig. I love art, can't you tell?  I enjoyed decorating around this bench where I counterbalanced the art on the wall with some decorations that sit on the bench.
Sometimes I imagine the different people who might have sat at this bench and wonder what they had been praying for.  If the bench could talk I bet it would have so many amazing stories to tell!

Thank you Tiffany for having me today.  It was so much fun to have the opportunity to showcase a favorite piece like this.  xx, Albertina
Albertina I just love this bench! It has such an incredible sense of history. And by the way, isn't fishing fun? Thanks for sharing!

X Bases with Design Shuffle & Guest Post

Happy Monday! Today Design Shuffle is here sharing some loveliness. While they are here talking about x-legs, I'm over there talking about one of the trendiest patterns of the moment: Chevron! Be sure to check it out.

Hi All! I’m Joanna, a blogger for Design Shuffle, a terrific website and blog dedicated to interior designer portfolios, decorating ideas and design trends. I’d like to thank Tiffany for letting me share a guest post with you today. I brought along some of my favorite x-base furnishings. This style has been around for centuries and is still works beautifully in today’s decors. X Base
A charming kitchen features an x-base design flanking the island which adds interest to the piece. The deer-legged barstools are quite clever, giving the space a fun touch. X Base
The Barcelona chair from Mies van der Rohe is perhaps one of the most famous x-base chair designs. Its sleek good looks go well in a modern décor or in an eclectic one such as is pictured here. X Base
Classic x-base marble tables framed in brass go beautifully with a contemporary tufted sofa and swing arm light fixture in black and brass. X Base
Director’s chairs are yet another popular x-based design. They’re shown here with a warm wood table which mimics the chairs’ look. This pretty dining room is sure to inspire many interior design ideas. X Base
An x-base coffee table plays nicely with eclectic furnishings in this open plan living/kitchen area. The sisal rug gives the space a casual air. X Base
A single x-base ottoman sits in front of a glowing fireplace. This elegant design is a classic piece which looks lovely with its dramatic surroundings. X Base
This lacquered x-base bamboo tray sits on a chic faux zebra rug. This piece would be look lovely as a side table for a sofa or bed. The style would work well with an eclectic or Asian décor. X Base
The x-base works well with so many different styles including contemporary and modern as you can see in this teenage girl’s bedroom design. This desk looks terrific with the white office chair and the chic surroundings.
X-base tables give added style to any room. Want to see more inspiration? Design Shuffle is filled to the brim with fantastic ideas!

Favourite Furniture Fridays: Simple Dwellings

Hi, my name is Amber from the design blog Simple Dwellings.  I am so excited to be on Tiffany's blog for her favorite furniture series!  I love this idea and instantly knew what I would choose.  As I look around our house, there are many things I would love to revamp and change, but our dining room hutch has a great story attached to it and makes me smile when I see it!
We purchased our hutch when my husband and I lived in Germany.  While we lived there for three years, my love for interior design and unique furniture grew.  I used to often walk into this one furniture store and browse around, seeing if they had anything new.  Then one day, I fell in love with this off white hutch.  It was definitely one of those had to have pieces!  Well, it was over budget, so I moved on.  I often thought about it, hoping it would go on sale.  When I went back to the shop one afternoon, it was no longer there.  I was heartbroken, figuring someone had bought it.  Then one night when my husband and I were on our way to the movies, we spotted a discount furniture store with the same name as my favorite shop.  We had some extra time, so we went inside.  It was their discount store, and there it was- 40% off!  It was truly meant to be. We paid for it that night, and the rest was history!  My husband still says it was the most expensive movie date we ever had!  :)  I smiled from ear to ear throughout the entire movie!  Some things are just meant to be.
Thanks so much for having me here today, Tiffany.  It was fun going down memory lane!

Such an amazing story Amber! I completely love the piece and am smitten with your blue and white china collection!

Guest Post: Camo Decor

I think we are all loving the fall fashion reports coming out this year.
One big trend I'm noticing: Camo.
Often, we see fashion sneak its way into decor...but camo? Could this possibly translate?
Head on over to my guest post at The Little Black Door to find out!
I'm filling in while Elizabeth is away on vacation with a little guide on how to get the military motif in your own home without it looking just plain weird.

Now go check it out! (Sir, Yes, Sir). A-ten-hut!
