jolene and I had the opportunity to meet kelly leplante editor and creator of standard magazine / interior designer extraordinaire while working along side her on an episode of hgtv design wars last week. it was so great to meet her and hear her talk shop about the interior design and magazine business. she's got a great eye for design and layout and a sharp business sense that i very much appreciate. Check her magazine out you will not be disappointed, it's really great and chalk full of great design, products, architecture and landscaping. we love you kelly! happy monday domicile readers! we have blogged about molly before. and i know you all know her. well know of her anyway. she has great taste and is now entering the blogging world herself. you can find her here. after perusing through her blog this weekend, i came across a very frank lloyd wright inspired home that she has recently completed in larchmont. loving the woodworking details. my favorite room is that dining room. i'm starting to become more fond of red these last couple of weeks. in fact, i have a fashion file on my desktop, and after reviewing it this weekend it confirmed my new red obsession. i'll start by wearing it, and maybe i'll warm up to the idea of putting it in a client's home. we shall see. jolene.

monday monday Hi Ya'll!!!

It's been a pretty great couple of weeks for domicile. jolene and I are so grateful that we are getting such great response to our projects and are thankful for all our potential projects that are on the arise and currently in the works. i'm very much looking forward to today's design meeting with our super talented friend and my former kwid co-worker tyler king. it's been fun working along side him once again. can't wait to show you guys what were working on...buuuutttttt it just not quite ready for a debut yet! more fun yet to come i promise! xo amanda

lonny's latest.

yesterday i was very excited, yet surprised, to see lonny's latest issue had launched. i was in the car far from home, and i was dying to know who had made the electronic pages. once i finally entered the front door and landed at the computer, i, like always, did a quick flip through to browse the pages and enjoy the images. then, like most of you i'm sure, i went back through more slowly to actually enjoy the articles. my most favorite was from hillary thomas. i have admired her work for a long time now, and i was very pleased to see even more magnificent spaces on the pages of lonny. on a side note, how adorable is the client--standing at her front door in red and skinny jeans. i immediately put that in my "dress more like this" folder.

i was so excited to see her use the salmon color that amanda and i have been swooning over.

so, i'm not a purple person. i'm not sure why, and i think i've mentioned it before, but to see this sofa in purple with the salmon welting was just amazing. it made me want to re-do everything in my condo and start over. then again, i think about that at least once a day.

a very peaceful, light bedroom...you can't go wrong.

yummy blue color. i get so excited when they put the paint color in the magazine so you can replicate the space. let's not forget to notice the adorable towel holder.

Commune Design.

happy monday! this morning on facebook, elle decor featured commune design. thank god they did. their work is just super fabulous and i'm so grateful to have them on my design radar. i swear, i have heard of them before, and i also felt that i had already blogged about them, but i can't figure out either...

regardless, these are some amazing installs in the los angeles area that i'm sure you will enjoy as much as i have. jolene.

usually i want to paint all beams white or a color, but i like that these are exposed.

stripes in this hallway are genius. i love how they go onto the baseboard and onto the floor. yummy.

this reminds me of a frank lloyd wright home.

i'm obsessed with dark walls, as well all know they are part of my own home.

i would love to have this porch off of my bedroom...

chandler hudson + anderson kenny

meet chandler hudson-kenny! i recently met chandler through facebook via her father cale hudson who lives in my home town of chanute, ks. like me she also hails from kansas and cale is a 2nd or 3rd cousin to my father. which i guess makes us 4th or 5th cousins...ha! not sure. anyway...i was delighted to find out that chandler is a talented interior designer working on diverse projects, ranging from urban town houses, flats, and offices to island and country homes. i'm really enjoying her simplistic modern design approach. classic mixed with modern. solid subdued hues matched with blacks and deep rich woods. you can see more of chandlers work here. best, xo amanda

happy 2011 to you all!!

I feel all fresh, shiny, new and full of vigor and anticipation of the year to come. domicile has some exciting press coming this year that we are looking forward to sharing with you all in the next few months. Yay!!

so here we go! first post of 2011. i very much admire and am super inspired by ilse crawford of studioilse. she has been bumped to the top of my 'role model' list. i love her approach to design, clientele and life. i'm dying over the details and color pallets she chooses. i took the below from her website. i like it very much.
