BODIE and FOU Gift Guide | Favourite B&W prints

Not quite Santa yet but I feel I have became a bit of a Xmas shopping expert :-)
As my in-laws live all in New-Zealand and a few of my friends have moved to AustraliaI appreciate how tricky/heavy/stressful/inconvenient (pick the one you want) packing gifts in your suitcase when you head back home for Xmas can be
I once had the brilliant idea to ship all our gifts to New-Zealand before we arrived to Auckland...I can't tell you how painful it was when I saw how much shipping had been so I've learnt my lesson.
If you're still stuck with gift ideas, let me tell you something: Art prints & posters are the best gifts you can get
Prints are light to pack which means low cost international shipping for you. On BODIE and FOU, you can order up to 1,2, 3 or 4 prints at once, the maximum shipping rates for a parcel going on the other side of the world will be between £8.50 to £22.50 (that's £5.62 P&P per print) and I know looking at the number of prints we are sending today to Australia, New-Zealand and Europe that a lot of you have already got that but I thought it would be useful for some of you to highlight this.
Here is a selection of my favourite B&W prints

Le Chat print | Batgirl print | Type Map print (available for British Isles, London, Ireland, NYC, Australia, New-Zealand, Canada, Italy and France) | Monkey print | Feathers print | Circus print (recently featured in The Guardian) | Small Talk print

One gorgeous new print and new hair...

It's not very often that I post images of myself (like never!) but yesterday we had a photoshoot + interview in my home for The Scotland on Sunday magazine (which will get featured this weekend) so I went to the 'haircoiffeur' (hairdresser) as Mila says.
Once the photoshoot was over with Debra Hurford Brown, the photographer sent by the newspaper, Francois and I carrying on styling the new BODIE and FOU collection which includes this gorgeous SMALL TALK print I took home and he also took a few portraits of me while the blow-dry was still looking good...
The print is by One Must Dash, a creative label set up by two talented Swedish girls: Anki Josefsson & Anneli Sandström who made a gorgeous collection of prints exclusively available for BODIE and FOU. I hope you'll love this one as much as I do.

Did you know??

Did you know that in China, Bats are symbol of good fortune?

Bats are very auspicious creatures and if one ever flies into your home, you won’t want to do any harm to it cause it brings you luck! I need to say this to my friend Emma who stayed one Summer in our house in France and saw a bat flying across the lounge...

The bat is a symbol of good fortune because the word bian3 fu2 蝙蝠 sounds like luck “fu2”.
Two bats “shuang1 fu2” 双福 means double luck. A design of two bats with a scepter ru2 yi4 means "double happiness as wished".
Five bats “wu3 fu2” 五福 means Five Fortunes referring to Good Luck, Prosperity, Wealth, Happiness, Longevity.
So here we go, five good reasons to get this gorgeous Bat print by Mini & Maximus

Styling from Amsterdam...

After chatting until 1am with Desiree and drinking wine, I got up this morning feeling a tiny bit tired but it was so great to catch up with Desiree and talked endlessly about interior design, styling and other creative things.
This morning, I styled a few things I had brought with me from our collection.
Desiree has really a gorgeous place that she styled beautifully. Wherever you look, there is an inspiring corner, little mood boards made with masking tapes. Her sense of style is very strong and she has created an amazing space with beautiful volumes and lots of natural light.
Don't you love this gorgeous clothes rail that she designed and got made by a local tradesman? I think it is beautiful!

I have more photos to take this afternoon but here is a sneak-peek of the shots I did for the Do What You Think Is Right print and this gorgeous leather bag that goes nicely with my new white jacket from Zara...very Bianca Jagger in the 70s, don't you think?
Have a great weekend

Monochrome love

Finally....the Batgirl print and the Feathers print have arrived!
They have been stuck with the UK customs since 21st February and they have finally released the parcel today...I can't tell you how annoyed I was by this delay, we had so many pre-orders.... I really hate let down customers but anyway they are in Da House now and that's all it matters.

So today, happy day! We're shipping all the pre-orders to Finland, Iceland, Taiwan, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Norway...

In the shop this week: The Old Oak's Last Dream print by Missemai

Five years ago, out of the blue, Mia-Louise, the designer behind Missemai, emailed me to ask whether I would be interested in having her handmade prints on BODIE and FOU.
I opened the attachments and felt in love with the delicate drawings and amount of details found in each of her prints. They were the first series of art prints we had in our collection which has grown a lot and has now gorgeous B&W art prints, prints for children, to say I love you, etc....

The Old Oak's Last Dream art print was an instant success and still is at Christmas time because of their wintery theme but also during the Summer as a beautiful, wedding gift.
Over a series of four handmade black & white illustrations, MisseMai Prints depict with beautiful details and attention, the enchanting story of friendship and the mesmerizing world of little angels, luxurious flowers, beautiful birds and other magical creatures, based on the story of The Snow Queen. Capturing the dramatic feelings found in Fairy Tales, from magical creatures to wonderful landscapes and sweet, kind heroes, each print brings a bit of magic into today’s hectic world.

PS: You can find the Heima cast iron candlestick here (it's gorgeous!)

Support Movember campaign

Talking of Moustache, this month is MOVEMBER month. MOVEMBER is a charity responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces in the UK and around the world. The aim of which is to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. For more information about MOVEMBER or to make a donation, click here

As my dad has been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and Steve's dad was diagnosed with the same six years ago but fully recovered from it, this is unfortunately a cause dear to my heart and a cause that needs a lot of support as this is a pretty common thing for men and I'm sure a lot of us had a man in our lives affected by this. So this month, BODIE and FOU will support MOVEMBER by giving 10% of any One Must Dash print sold. Thanks

In the shop this week: One must dash prints

I'm really excited by all the new designs we are adding to the store. We have so many that each week from now on, I will do a 'In the shop this week' post to fill you in. Of course, they will be in our new catalogue and if you haven't requested a copy yet, you can do so here.
This week, let me introduce to our new series of black & white prints by One Must Dash - a creative duo of two talented girls: Anki Josefsson & Anneli Sandström.
I love them all but I have a real soft spot for the Love Letters print, the Winter leaf print and the Corals print because they are really graphic. The One Must Dash print is a great one for guys.
Most of our prints are 50 x 70 cm or A2 format and as they are standard sizes, it means that framing is stress-free!!
However I've purposely added these new ones as 30 x 40 cm only, a slightly smaller size than the others because when I was trying to create a wall of prints at home, it was bothering me to have them in the same size. I think if you want to put several of them on a wall, it will look a look better if they have different size and then you can add into the mix personal drawings, doodles, family photos, etc.
They will all be in stock next week, just in time for the drop of our catalogue in the UK.
So what do you think? Do you love them and if so...which one(s) is your favourite?

Mima Le Chat

Sometimes, you just get very very good days where everything is just working together and today was one of those for us at B&F.
Sophie and our creative team are putting together an amazing mail order catalogue and I can't wait to show you the end result. I really hope this is going to be a success because if it's not, I'm not sure we will be in a position to produce another one as it is incredibly expensive to produce but we will cross that bridge when we come to it....
We also received the Mima Le Chat print (featured below in the minx's bedroom with her new shooooees bought by her papa), the Bat print and Le Chat print and I frankly love them all!
I got samples last month to shoot them for our catalogue and framed them all in Ikea's white RIBBA frame. Next to each other they look stunning.
In the end, Mila selected Mima for her bedroom and I put Le Chat above our family mood board in the lounge. The Bat may end up in our kitchen...I don't know yet. We have 6 new gorgeous prints from a new designer and I'm kind of wait to see how they all come together.
We've also received boxes of gorgeous japanese masking tapes in lots of colours and I'm taking a couple of pink and blue rolls home tonight to have fun over the weekend. The masking tapes will be online next week.

We have so many gorgeous new products in the pipeline from French, American and Swedish designers that I can't tell you how excited I am. I'm totally restless!

Luckily I have started this 4-week fitness plan from Marie-Claire to channel my energy. I'm on week 1 so I will let you know if I manage to do it until Week 4 and have then an amazing body....we can all live in hope!
Have a great weekend

Happy Dog print

We've just added a new print to our collection of art prints and posters and having an Australian Shepherd at home called Lucas (although recently he should be called 'flipping Attila'), I love how the design of this print celebrates dog ownership.
Yes, you get mucky pup, socks/gloves/scarf that disappeared (Lucas is very much into textiles), brand new Swedish Hasbeens clogs chewed, beloved vintage fur jacket ruined, expensive (so I was told) helmet hidden at the back of the garden, Zadig & Voltaire jumpers with holes (it's very tendance) but you also get inconditional love...
Someone who will happily leak your face even if you have spent your whole sunday in your PJs and have not showered, someone who will look super sad when you tell him off but equally will forgive in a split second and will be hugely happy to see you if you've gone away without him.
So for all these reasons, I think the Happy Dog print is wonderful and I do hope you will like it too.

I like this...

The Apple Papple poster on a sideboard...Proof that good designs (even if they are meant to be for children) do not have to be confined to a child's bedroom. Why?! Because it would be a shaaaamme!
Tomorrow, I'm going to the haircoiffeur to look like this Danish bomb and then I will treat myself with these gorgeous Swedish boots and then you can start calling me Karin a la scandi.
Have a great weekend! xoxo

PS:
My brother's reaction when I showed him the photo of the D.B. (Danish bomb):
Francois: "c'est qui ce canon?"
Moi: "...Helena Christensen"
