I'm Freaking Out

By what, you ask? Well, I bought some fabrics when I was in Atlanta that I wanted to use to wrap like a canvas as art for my booth. So I have been asking my carpenter to make some "frames" for me. Well, he and his wife just had a baby so he's been a lil busy or some BS like that. So I'm doing my best to be patient realizing that my art is not as important as bringing new life into this world...yada, yada, yada. So in one of my hunting and fishing trips to my local Habitat for Humanity Resale Store I came across these...

No, I'm not kidding. Two wood frames, the exact size I needed. It's like the decorating God heard my prayers and sent them down from heaven just for me. Here is one of them completed...

Do I always have this kind of luck? No. But sometimes, maybe every five years or so I go searching for one particular thing and stumble upon it. When I first got into design, I wanted a drafting table. I had no money so I went to my local Goodwill and literally found one. It was set up flat and it was holding a bunch of lamps but gosh darnit, it was a drafting table! Then another time I wanted a metal table for my porch so I went to Habitat and there was a zinc metal table just sitting there...with the sun glistening off of it like it was beckoning me! If you can believe it...I passed on that one! I know, I know. I think I was in shock. It was almost too good to be true. That one still haunts me at night. Actually, excuse me as I take a moment of silence for that beautiful zinc table.

Ok, moving on...

I was in Lowe's the other day and saw these...

If you are a loyal reader you know I love anything zinc or galvanized AND anything with circles. So I have been trying to come up with something to make with them. Well, looky what I found on Pinterest!

I mean, who climbed inside my head to create this? I'm in love.

P.S. My apologies to anyone who follows me on Pinterest...I was under the weather yesterday and laid up on the sofa just pinning away. Your box is going to be full of all my pins. Hope you like them!

Shopping Help

Anyone in the Raleigh, NC or Richmond, VA areas have any antique store, flea markets or design shops that I need to check out while I am in the area? I like it all...nasty and cluttered to high-end and perfectly styled! Please let me know! Thanks!!!

Kudzu

1. A fast-growing vine widespread in the southern United States.

2. My high school art teacher's band's name.

3. A 25,000 sq ft antique mall in Decatur. It boasts being named "Atlanta's Best Since 1979" [I hope it isn't by the same people who keep voting Hyman's the best seafood restaurant in Charleston! Gag.]

When I was in The ATL a couple of weeks ago, I stopped by as Kudzu is one of my favorite spots to shop. Here are some pics of the items I heavily considered...

It is hard to see but this long table would me AMAZING as an island in a long kitchen. It is a mix of metal and old wood.

Something like this..

Or a long vanity like this...

I LOVED this zinc table and coveting it for my back porch.
(still considering this one so please don't buy it!!!)

Pair of 60's Bertoia Chairs. They sell them new but it is cool when you find vintage ones! I would paint them a bright color.

Or white. They look great here...
Coastal Living

This old work table was cool. I would leave it as is and hang a large, modern mirror above it and use it is an entry table! But an extra large basket underneath to hold all your "stuff" and you are good to go.

This would be killer painted! That large door pulls down, I would use that as a desk and make this whole unit a home office in a small space. What great storage!

I adore this old metal cart!

It would look good mixed in with a neutral interior like this...
Cottage Living

It is hard to see the great colors from this photo but I would hang this old science chart as art and use the colors as inspiration for the room's palate.

This proves that anything in mass quantity can be interesting! I would buy all these old bobbins and arrange them on a table or bookcase for an eye catching display!

Dang, reviewing all this gives me SUCH buyer's remorse!

Country Living Fair

I am so bummed but I cannot make it to Atlanta this weekend as I had hoped for the Country Living Fair. Boo! But all you Atlantans out there should totally go! Here is the link for more information. But please don't send me pics of all the goods I am missing :( Like this....

This is killing me! Why o' why can't Atlanta be closer to Charleston? I abhor that drive. And it takes too long....pardon me while I throw a temper tantrum.

My Latest Hunting Trip

As I mentioned before, I went to my cousin's wedding in Statesboro, Georgia. As we pulled into town there was nothing but farms and farmland until "what to my wondering eyes should appear"...but antique stores galore! But with a weekend packed full of wedding and birthday activities there was just no time. Absolute torture!!! But I have been doing some junk store hunting lately and thought I would share some of my current finds....

I like your yellow outfit but I would 86 the vinyl and do a knubby linen instead.

This kitchy seahorse would be a cool doorstopper at a beach house or in a little girl's bedroom.

This pen and ink of a train would be so cute in a little boys bedroom!

I would give you a turquoise or green mat and a new updated frame.

Too bad they didn't have another "L" (get it? LOL)

I am a sucker for old foundry parts as art on a wall, tabletop or bookshelf.

Saw this at Habitat in Mt. P for you local folks who covet a campaign dresser.

Or desk. They might look ugly now but they can look like this...

I SO want to paint you a fun color and put you on my porch!

I would give you a new outfit. Maybe something like this...

Trina Turk Santorini Print
